How to study engineering at Melbourne
To become an engineer at Melbourne, you first study an Engineering Systems major in your undergraduate degree. Then, you study the two-year Master of Engineering to become a professionally accredited engineer.
Engineering Systems majors are available in the:
- Bachelor of Biomedicine
- Bachelor of Design
- Bachelor of Environments
- Bachelor of Science
All University of Melbourne undergraduate students are welcome to join.
Bachelor of Commerce students
For advice on how to study the Master of Engineering through the Bachelor of Commerce, please book a Graduate Study Consultation (see below).
If you commenced before 2017, you can complete an engineering breadth sequence leading to a 2.5 year Master of Engineering. If you commenced in or after 2017, you will need to complete a three-year Master of Engineering due to changes in the Bachelor of Commerce course structure.
Graduate Study Appointments
If you have questions about graduate study in engineering or IT, or would like to find out more about which subjects to take in your undergraduate degree, you can book an appointment with our staff.
Our admissions staff offer consultation appointments during semester to discuss your future study options in the Master of Engineering, Master of Information Systems and Master of Information Technology.
