The Eugen Singer Award was established by Mrs Josephine Singer in commemoration of her late husband, Eugen Singer, who distinguished himself as a chemical engineer working in the field of precision engineering associated with the production and processing of polymers.
This award is open for award annually to a postgraduate student engaged in the study of polymers, including their production and processing.
Candidates will be assessed on the basis of academic merit with preference being given to students who demonstrate financial need.
The recipient will be selected by a committee made up of the Dean of Engineering (or nominee) and representatives from the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and the Faculty of Science.
Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Academic merit of the applicant
- Strength of research
- Financial need
