Eligibility

Open to Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents who are experiencing financial hardship and are enrolled the first year of:

  • Master of Science (Computer Science) OR
  • Master of Engineering (Software) OR
  • Master of Information Technology

$10,000 paid over two years.

Description

This scholarship has been established to support talented computing students who are experiencing financial disadvantage, while honouring the legacy of Alan Knipe, a pioneer in computer hardware and software technology. Alan had a passion for electronics and founded the software development company StarRez in 1992, which quickly grew to become a vibrant international software company and has expanded into New Zealand, Canada, the US, the UK and Singapore. Alan Knipe passed away in 2013.

The scholarship has been generously supported by Alan’s wife Denese, along with Adele Knipe and Travis Knipe who worked with their father at StarRez.

The successful recipient will be invited to meet informally with the donors of the scholarship.

Selection criteria

Applications will be assessed on the following selection criteria:

  • Financial need
  • Academic merit
  • Strength of a personal statement
